This Week at The Hamptons School
In Kindergarten this week students helped Ms. Richardson release the butterflies. The entire class walked the pathway over to some trees and let them all fly free. In ELAL students are finishing up their Hungry Caterpillar books. They also finished some very special presents and cards that will be making their way home today! Kindergarten students are also continuing to work on transitions by going outside for recess.
In Grade One students completed more of their animal research by focusing on the animal’s habitat and appearance. Students also finished a Dad’s Day project – but no snooping – this secret is safe until Sunday! Both Ms. Oseen’s and Ms. Hughes’ class had a wonderful fieldtrip to Glenbow Ranche on Monday. A big thank you to the parent volunteers and to Ms. Hughes for organizing the field trip.
In Grade 2 Ms. Ringheim’s class were able to present their animal research slide shows. Both classes have been continuing their novel study with the book “The Mouse and the Motorcycle” focusing on summarizing and character studies. They even had some cookies delivered! In Math students worked on standard and non-standard measurement while in gym students played cooperative games and went on nature walks to take advantage of the beautiful weather!
Grades three and four students put the finishing touches on their penguin research and magazines this week. In math, students in grade three focused on perimeter while grade four students worked on area. In Social Studies students focused on the significant positive impact and contributions of Chinese Settlers in Alberta. They also learned about the hardships and unfair treatment that these settlers endured as well. In phys ed, Mr. Claussen set up an amazing 9 hole golf course for students. They learned how to tee off and putt as well as aspects of golf etiquette.
FUN DAY
A huge shout out to the fun day committee. What an amazing day full of games, play and adventure for all of our students. This day would not have been possible without our amazing parent volunteers who helped run our 18 stations – we truly have the best community!
Parking Lot Safety
Please refrain from walking directly through the staff parking lot before and after school. Instead, please use the sidewalks adjacent to the school/parking lot.
