Arrival / Entrance Procedures

All students are asked to wait for the 8:30 AM and 12:33 PM bells at the playground or on the back compound. Supervision is provided by our teachers at the back of the school and the bell cannot be heard at the front of the school. Students should not arrive at school before 8:15 AM or 12:18 PM (except PM Kindergarten). Parents and babysitters are asked to say good-bye to students outside the doors to alleviate hallway crowding and to foster student independence.

School Access & Sign-in

The Hamptons School is a secure building and the doors will be locked at all times. To enter the school, you must push the buzzer. Someone in the office will speak with you, then you will hear a click when the door is open. This security measure is to enhance the safety and security of the school to keep our students safe.

All guests (visitors and volunteers) must sign-in at the main office. Parents with items to drop-off or students to pick-up must do so at the office, as we wish to avoid disturbing the classrooms. The office staff will handle deliveries and requests that a child be sent to the office. Parents are reminded to sign their children out at the office if they are taking them out of the school.

If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.

Video Surveillance Technology

The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology at select schools to support maintaining a safe and secure environment and to help control vandalism and criminal activity on school property.

Personal information gathered by video surveillance is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33(b). The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.

This technology is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff.

Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066.

For questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.
