Support Staff Week

This week we had the absolute pleasure of honoring each of our support staff that are an integral part of our student learning team and Hamptons School Family.  We honored each of our support staff individually by having daily announcements, creating heart-felt cards of appreciation, delivering flowers and Starbucks!  Thank you so much for all you do Ms. Hayashi, Ms. Watson, Ms. James, Ms. Wood, Ms. Creasey, Ms. Dolly, Ms. Diana and Ms. Awan!

Volunteer Celebration

On May 9th we will be celebrating those parents/guardians and others that have volunteered at The Hamptons School.  Those who have volunteered can look for a personalized invitation early next week with more details!

This Week at The Hamptons School

We were very excited to welcome members of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra to our school this week. There were two musicians that joined us playing both the flute and the bassoon.  Students were delighted with the various pieces of music that the musicians shared as well as the different instrumental techniques and stories they told!

In Kindergarten this week students continued to learn and explore the ducklings as they grew within their eggs.  They added another drawing to their visual journals about observations they made when they were candling the eggs!  Ms. Richardson guided students through discovery of the letter “Y”, its sounds and various words that start with that letter!

In Grade One students solidified their subtraction skills in math by using a number path.  Students celebrated earth day by writing passages in ELAL and then created a culminating art project about the earth.  Finally, in science students used their five senses during a spring observation walk to note the changes between seasons.

In Grade Two, students put on an amazing Earth Day assembly!  We are SO proud of the work that each student did with their art work, facts about our earth as well as the performances of a poem and song.  A special thank you to Isla and Mia Lam for speaking from the heart and sharing a personalized Acknowledgement of the Land. Following the assembly students were able to write a personalized reflection on their performance.  In math, students started double digit subtraction with re-grouping while in social studies Ms. Ringheim wrapped up learning about Saskatoon and Ms. Werle’s class started learning about Meteghan.

In Grades Three and Four students also celebrated Earth Day.  In science students explored adaptations while in social studies students learned about how Alberta was formed and about settlers in our province.  In Grade 4 students focused on equivalent fractions as well as simplifying fractions.

SAVE THE DATE

On May 22nd our School Council and Fundraising Society will have its final meeting and AGM for the 2023/2024 School Year.  We can’t wait to welcome new parents/guardians, family and community members to our council & society.  Here are some fun facts:

  1. Do you know that we work diligently to keep our meetings to one hour?  We want to be respectful of your time! We ensure we adhere to the agenda and adjourn if items need to be further discussed at the next meeting.
  2. We are looking for one director at large!  What does a director at large do?  They will attend the 5 meetings throughout the school year and be a voting member of the executive!  It is as easy as that.
