To the Parents and Guardians of The Hamptons School,
Thank you for continuing to teach your children their purpose ….
I come to The Hamptons School to Learn.
Student Led Conferences
As you are aware, we are scheduling Student Led Conferences on Friday, March 13 from 1:15 – 3:15 p.m. and Thursday, March 19 from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m. Booking system opened on March 4. If you require assistance to book a conference, please contact Mrs. Hayashi.
Student-Led conversations will provide an opportunity for students to celebrate their learning. Maintaining on-going dialogue between parents and teachers allows everyone to have a common understanding of how student-learning needs can best be met. We look forward to celebrating your child’s / children’s learning with you. Students always shine during the Student-Led Celebration.
Friday Teacher Professional Learning
On the afternoon of Friday, March 6, teachers will be participating in further professional learning related to the new Social Studies Program of Studies. Using the newly developed Inspiration Guides created by teachers across the CBE, we will be working collaboratively with Terrace Road School to plan our next steps in the Social Studies curriculum. We are very grateful for our Friday afternoons, to learn, dialogue and plan with our colleagues.
Learning is Energizing!

Recycle Old Cellphones/ Handheld Devices
The students in Room 3 are launching a new initiative at our school to help care for the environment. From today until April 30, we invite students and their families to bring in small, used electronic devices such as old cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, and chargers. Collection boxes will be placed around the school for students to drop off their items.
Many electronic devices contain a material called coltan, which is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mining for coltan can damage the natural habitats of gorillas. By recycling old electronics, we can help reduce the demand for this material and support gorilla conservation. All collected devices will be donated to the Calgary Zoo’s Gorillas on the Line program for responsible recycling. Thanks for your help with this important initiative!
