This Week At The Hamptons School

We had  two very exciting events happen at the school this week.  On Tuesday morning we buried our 25th year anniversary Time Capsule.  There were elements of the first year the school was open, the 15th anniversary and this year.  The students were so excited to look at a VHS tape and pager from the early 2000s.  The concept of a TV guide blew their minds ("What do you mean there was NO YOUTUBE?!?!")  The entire school was invited to watch the capsule be buried by both Ms. Bradbury and Amanda Livingstone (Chair, School Council).  Ms. Bradbury avoided falling in the hole when placing the capsule in the ground, much to the relief of the students.

Husky Day took place today and was a resounding success!  Focused on Indigenous People's Day, the activities were based on various games and competitions from the Blackfoot, Inuit Assiniboine, Skowkale, Cree, Dene, Eastern Woodland, Salish and Iroquois Peoples.  Each game, while being fun also had a purpose like improving throwing accuracy which was needed when they went to hunt for small game, or learning how add and count.  A huge thank you to our many parent volunteers who made this possible and to Ms. Wood and Ms. Stetz for organizing such a thoughtful day.

Welcome New Teachers

I am pleased to introduce two new teachers that will be joining our staff in August.  Taylor Gierl is joining us from Lake Bonavista School as both a teacher and Learning Leader.  Taylor is a student-centered educator who's practice is grounded in interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking in her students and she is delighted to be bringing these skills to our school.

The second teacher joining our staff next year is Janelle Ostafie who is coming from Taradale School.  Janelle has a diverse set of teaching experiences that has guided her to create differentiated learning experiences for students in an environment where every student feels safe, valued and experiences success.  We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Gierl and Ms. Ostafie to our Hamptons School Family.

Print Report Card

Your child's report card will go live on June 25 in MyCBE.  It is only live for one month.  Please print or save a PDF for your records before July 25.

Lost and Found

There is a large amount of lost and found items that are now set out on tables outside the office.  We are encouraging students to look through the items.  We will place the items outside the main entrance at dismissal over the last few days of school.  Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the year.

Dogs on School Grounds

A gentle reminder that under city bylaw 47M2021 The Owner of a dog must ensure that such dog does not enter or remain in or on: a School Ground, Playground, Sports Field, Golf Course, Cemetery, Wading or Swimming Area.  We love our doggie friends but kindly ask if you are walking them to pickup/drop off that you remain off of school grounds.
