Reminder

There is no school for students tomorrow, February 28 as it is a non instruction day.

This Week At The Hamptons School

In Kindergarten, students have been exploring movement. They were excited to play with balls and ramps and talk about how different ramps make the balls move faster or slower. Students participated in a number 10 activity where they practiced printing the "10" and drew a picture of 10 things in their journals. They have also been talking about making groups with the numbers 1 to 10 (eg. a group of 2 and a group of 4 together makes 6). On Pink Shirt Day, they read the Kindness Book by Todd Parr and talked about different ways to be a good friend.

In Grade One, students have moved on to some advanced short vowel sounds in UFLI as well as what happens to the letters F, L, S and Z when they come following a short vowel sound!  In their visual journals students wrote about the history of The Hamptons School after hearing a presentation by Ms. James (who has been an employee at The Hamptons since it opened!).  In Math students continued working with number bonds.

In Grade Two, students were exceptionally proud to perform their Assembly focused on the learning that they have completed about the Arctic.  The assembly featured songs by Indigenous Artists, facts about the northern climate, animals and the lifestyle of our Northern neighbours!  A big congratulations to Ms. Werle and Ms. Hughes'  class on showcasing such deep learning!

In Grade Three/Four, students were very excited to go on their (somewhat smelly) science focused fieldtrip to the Shephard Landfill.  Students participated in Pink Shirt Day activities and were even able to visit a different class to form a new relationship with another teacher in the school.  In Gym students played tag games while in music students focused on Harmony.  In Math students worked on the division skills while also continuing their novel study.

Safety Tip of the Week

As parent/guardians it is our job to model the safe behaviour we want to see from our children. Make sure we are demonstrating safe behaviours by staying out of the parking lot, walking on side walks and not jay walking!
