This Week At the Hamptons School
In Kindergarten, students are in the midst of an art project. To become inspired for their art project, students watched the story Harold and the Purple Crayon. Following the video, the class talked about drawing different types of lines. On a piece of paper the class drew 5 lines, traced the lines with pastels and are now adding color between the lines with water paint. In Social Studies, students continued their "This is Me" book with the addition of their favorite animal page. In math students began looking at patterns with doubles while in music they learned various Halloween songs for the assembly.
In Grade 1, students are continuing to learn about themselves which related to a name Art Project. In Math, the class is finishing up their 2D shapes and symmetry unit. In ELAL, students are continuing their UFLI lessons with the letters P and T while in writing students are continuing to add details while also referring to the word wall. In Phys Ed Grade Ones were excited to begin some basic volleyball skills.
In Grade 2, students built sod houses using collage elements to recreate scenes from Pioneer Days. They explored pioneer artifacts, finished patterning activities in math, and completed a math assessment. Next, they will be starting addition and subtraction. The class has also started volleyball. In writing, students are working on a project about their Heritage Park field trip, describing what they saw and did. Alongside this writing, students are creating a visual journal entry with pictures
In Grades 3/4, students are learning about waste in our world, focusing on blue bins and recycling. They have started literacy centers and in math are representing numbers in two different ways by overloading place values. Additionally, they are working on personal narratives in writing. Students are excited to be participating in volleyball games in Phys Ed!
