This Week At The Hamptons School What a great week at The Hamptons School. This week in kindergarten, students worked with their buddies from Ms. Le’s grade 3/4 class. During their buddy time kindergarten students read their Mitten Stories that they authored over the past few weeks! In grade one, students began learning about energy and movement in Science. Students were able to bring in items from home that demonstrated objects with energy. They learned that energy is comprised of pathways, direction and speed. Additionally, students are starting to learn numbers to 100 in Math! In grade two, students have been doing a lot of work with coins in Math. In Science students are also starting their Energy Unit, but the focus in Grade 2 is on sound and light. Finally, students were eager and excited to begin coding using RoboGarden. In grades three and four students started multiplication in Math after wrapping up their unit on Geometry. If your child is in Ms. Stetz’s or Ms. Le’s class ask them about the zero song! In Phys Ed, students played floor hockey and in Science they continued their coding. Finally, in ELAL students concluded their work with figurative language. If your child is in Grade 3, ask them about hyperboles and similes. If your child is in Grade 4 ask them about idioms and personification. Special Guest Visitors This week we welcomed two sets of guest visitors to The Hamptons School. On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome our Area 1 Director, Aubrey Fletcher for her monthly visit to her school. During her visit we were able to highlight the work we are doing with assessment and reporting as well as the progress on our school development plan. On Thursday we welcomed MLA Julia Hayter and Public School Board Trustee Danya Downey. It was an honor to welcome them both to our amazing school. MLA Julia Hayter and Trustee Danya Downey were thoroughly impressed with the dedication and passion exhibited by our students, teachers, and staff. They took the time to engage with various classrooms, observe numerous lessons, and witness firsthand the incredible learning environment we have cultivated here at The Hamptons School. During their visit, MLA Hayter and Trustee Downey expressed their appreciation for the vibrant and supportive community we have built together. Ms. Bradbury emphasized the collaboration between teachers, parents, and students and importance of such partnerships in fostering a positive and enriching educational journey. We would like to extend our gratitude to MLA Julia Hayter and Trustee Danya Downey for taking the time to visit our school. Engagement Survey for Parents As we continue our journey of continued growth and improvement, I am excited to announce an upcoming engagement opportunity for parents that will focus on gathering feedback on the School Development Plan, School Budget and Fees. At The Hamptons School, we recognize the importance of involving our entire community in the decision-making process to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive approach to planning. Please look for an email / letter home early next week regarding this survey. The survey is quick and easy to complete – it will take less than 5 minutes! To encourage parents/guardians to participate, we will be holding a draw for prizes for those students whose parents/guardians complete the survey! There will a detachable portion on next week’s letter to enter the draw as the survey is anonymous. Upcoming Healthy Hunger Note: New dates were added today!
