Principal's Message - January 19 2024
Important - School Council / Fundraising Society Meeting – THIS WEDNESDAY
Our next School Council & Fundraising Society meeting will be in person at 6:30 pm, Wednesday January 24th.
This meeting is an excellent opportunity for us to come together, discuss important school matters, and explore ways to enhance the educational experience for our students. The school planning and engagement portion will foster collaboration and input from all members of our community. Your presence and participation are highly valued as your input contributes significantly to the success of our school programs and activities. We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your commitment to the continued success of The Hamptons School.
This Week at The Hamptons School
In Kindergarten this week, students delved into the pages of the book "The Color Monster," embarking on a journey to understand and navigate their emotions. Through this exploration, they engaged in discussions and activities aimed at unraveling the complexities of various feelings and discovering effective ways to manage and express their emotions over time. The experience not only fostered emotional intelligence but also created a supportive environment for young learners to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their classmates.
In Grade One students have been learning how to conduct a survey by asking a question, gathering data, making tally marks and creating a bar graph. Additionally, they are answering questions about the data they have collected. In Social Studies students are digging into Families!
In Grade Two they have been writing fictional narratives with the subject of the narrative being stuck in a snow globe. They planned their story, wrote a first draft, edited their work and then published a final copy. In Math students explored place value up to 100 and in Social Studies are learning about Arctic Animals.
In Grades 3 and 4 students explored hand eye coordination activities in gym throughout various stations. In Math students are focusing on geometric properties of shapes and some students have moved on to rotations, translations, reflections and transformations. Students also continued to build their skills in handwriting and research.
Report Cards and IPPs Available January 30:
Report cards and Individual Program Plans (IPPs) will be available on January 30. Teachers are finalizing assessments for the first term, and you can access the reports through the MyCBE portal starting that week. Simply log in to review your child's report card, which reflects continuous assessments by our teachers. For students with IPPs, updates will also be provided during this period. We appreciate your collaboration in reviewing and signing the accompanying signature page for your child's IPP. Please promptly return the signed page to your child's teacher once you have read and reviewed the IPP.
