Hats on for Mental Health

Every year CMHA dedicates a week in May to raise the awareness of Mental Health. This year Mental Health Week will run May 6-10, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 8. Students are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Students will also participate in stories and/or lessons on understanding mental health.

This Week at The Hamptons School

In Kindergarten this week eggs into lockdown!  This is the process by which the incubator is prepared for the ducklings to hatch where the rotating device is taken out and water is added.  The ducklings are expected on Sunday and Ms. Richardson will be keeping a close eye on the ducklings over the weekend.  In math students started learning about two-dimensional shapes and in ELAL they focused on the letter Z!

In Grade 1students are learning additional attributes about two-dimensional shapes in math.  In English Language Arts and Literature students are learning about how to write directions, specifically focusing on brushing teeth.  They created an original version of the directions then edited them to be even better. In phys ed, students are working on their hand eye coordination with scoop and balls and games of dodgeball.

In Grade 2, students started a new unit in science about plant and animal life cycles.  They also started an art project that focused on gemstones.  Finally in ELAL students continued to work on opinion writing.

In Grades 3 and 4 science, students were learning about adaptations that various animals have including finding shelter and food.  All classes have finished their unit on fractions and have now started learning about telling time on a digital clocks.  Students also participated in an art project focused on the art of Jason Carter!
