Class Placement
Class lists were created by administration and learning teams taking great care keeping the learning needs of your child in mind as well as considering multiple other factors. These factors include students learning English as an additional language, individual learning needs, friendships, class size and more. Class placement is a complex and lengthy process.
You will receive an email at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27th from your child’s teacher, welcoming your child to their classroom. They will let you know about class placement, and instructions on where to meet on the first day. If you do not hear from the school by noon on Tuesday, please call the school on Tuesday afternoon.
Hamptons Community Parking Lot
Please be advised that the Hamptons Community Parking Lot is currently closed for construction. We have been informed by the community association that they are hoping to have the parking lot available again the week of September 9. In the meantime, please allow for extra time to park on Hamptons Blvd where signs indicate you are able to do so. The school parking lot is for staff only. Please do not park/drop off/turn around in the school parking lot.
Open House
Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 5. We are exited to invite all Hamptons School families to visit their child’s classroom for an interactive experience. There will be two timeslots to choose from: 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm or 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. If you have two children that attend our school, you will have time to visit both classrooms within the one-hour time period. More information to come soon!
School Supplies
Supplies are provided by the school. Students need to bring a backpack, indoor shoes, a snack, water bottle and lunch if they will be staying at school over the lunch break.
Bring Back the Blue
On your child’s first day of school, you will receive a package of information that requires your immediate attention. We ask that you fill it out and return it to school promptly. For the first day of school, please ensure that your child knows how they will go home after school by writing a dated note to the teacher to keep in your child’s backpack (i.e. Sarah takes Bus B home daily; James will be picked up by mom).
Come Volunteer With Us!
We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property. All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions.
Guest speakers or visitors to the school, and parents assisting their own child only are not considered to be volunteers, and do not require a security clearance.
Volunteer Security Clearance Process
Step 1: Prospective volunteers must first register as a volunteer at the school office where you plan on volunteering. School administrators will verify your identity and register you in the CBE volunteer database. The school office will provide you with a letter enabling you to obtain a police information check from the Calgary Police Service (CPS).
Please note, prospective volunteers must reside in Canada for a full year before registering. Police clearances from countries other than Canada are not accepted.
Step 2: Visit the CPS online system, electronic Police Information Check (ePIC), to obtain your police check using your CBE volunteer letter.
If you are unable to complete the process online, you may visit a police information check location instead.
Step 3: Once you have received your clearance document from CPS you will need to share it with the school in-person or by email.
Cost
Your security clearance is valid for five years and the cost is $21.25 ($15.00 for police clearance and 5.95+GST service fee) which is charged during the online ePIC application. For the 2024-25 school year, the CBE, in partnership with Calgary Police Services (CPS) have implemented a solution to have the full cost of the application covered by a voucher system which is funded by Volunteer Alberta. Please wait to submit your Volunteer Police Check until you have received an email from PoliceSoluntions.ca – Calgary Police Service Record Check inviting you to apply for the Police Information Check with the Vulnerable Sector (VS) for Volunteer. This will ensure the voucher is ready to be redeemed by the volunteer.
Annual Volunteer Registration
Each school year you must complete the CBE volunteer registration form. By completing the form, you agree to abide by the conditions that protect the safety, confidentiality and working environment of our schools. You also make a signed declaration with regard to criminal charges.
- Annual Volunteer Registration form - signed electronically through My CBE Parent Account.
- Volunteer | Administrative Regulation 5003
Enjoy your last few days of summer vacation. We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!
With Gratitude,
Ms. Bradbury, Principal, The Hamptons
